no issues while working , but I would recommend taking fan off if I had known.only did lower gaskets only, removed whole thing upper with lower.
truck started after a time, but started and ran fine.
drove mostly local checking for leaks and just keeping an eye out.
started it one morning and had a awful tap, thinking this was a lazy lifter. let idle till warm and it did sort itself out. going to use it this morning and a dash light which I am unfamiliar "check gauges"
pooped up, saw there was no oil pressure, "sigh". don't know if this is related to repair, or is it time to retire truck.

update:
removed distributor and checked oil pressure switch.
dripping oil at electrical connection.
ordered one from Napa.
also gonna try a heavier oil, maybe the lifter will stop leaking down.
there is hope yet.

200,000 is okay. I had one at 229,000 and kept going to 250,000 plus after I sold it. I'm not sure what the final mileage was when I found it on craigslist for sale. It was basically ruined. Have you taken the valve covers off to look for a damaged rod or broken rocker arm?

I have not, the tap did go away after warming up.
having changed the oil to a heavier grade, it seems to go away faster, but still there on cold start.
now researching a po420 code. one headache at a time.

Quick update, valve tap, gone, worked itself out I suppose.
replaced o2 sensor right bank.was going to do the quick fix with the spark plug extender but didn't.
truck runs fine.
one issue I have had though, secondary air pump has not worked . ever. has anyone had experience with this?

After codes are cleared, it must go through a drive cycle test. The test go "pass" for emissions.

Does the valve have a vacuum hose on it?

dmv said still not ready, damn.
it does have a vac port,

yanked the pump out, easy pull. 2 bolts,2 hose clamps, vac hose,elec connection.
disassembled on bench, motor , no bueno.
did all I could do with baby vice grips to spin.
and yes, water.
before installing new motor, gonna try drilling weep hole and put plug in for maintenance purposes. we will see.
