My Olds and I were accosted by young lady in
a Honda Accord during the "wintecane" 3/2/18.
I was talking a left while using my left directional.
She tried to pass me doing 35 by crossing the center line
as I was waiting for oncoming traffic to yield.
When they did I hit the gas...,
BOOM.
She totaled the wagon($3300) mostly
because of suspension damage and discontinued parts.
I almost lost consciousness but recovered enough to stop.
I settled with my insurer for almost twice the amount of damage.
Picked up a mint, low mileage,
1985 Lincoln Town Car base model.
Put it on the road today.
So far so good after a 140 mile shake down cruise although the MPG might be an issue.
But I am not injured and life goes on.

Thanks TAT, I was sore for a week or two.
It's good to see they left your sense of humor intact during you recent surgery.
I'm a little gun shy but am driving back from Florida the first week of May via Saint Louis, Mo.
That should work the cobwebs out.
I hope you get all better before tax/return to work day.

CHEVRO-bert, and you're driving a F*rd? Oh the humanity! Been there, done that, sold the car, regretted it. 90 LX Mustang 5.0 we bought for my wife new, and I inherited it when we bought her another new car. FAST car, too bad it was a transamatic automission equipped car, or I'd probably still be driving it. The left leg has to do something. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Glad to hear you’re recovering, Bob. Sorry about the O-Mad.

Even though I grew up around Chevys, I’ve always loved the ‘85 TC. Beautiful lines. Nice find.

Congrats and speedy full recovery.

Glad to hear that you are OK. My wife and I used to have a 1989 Town Car with the 5.0. On the highway it used to get 25 mpg, and was always quiet and smooth. We always said that ours had a Teamster trunk.

We had a mid 80's Towncar with a 302 and it got 25mpg with TBI on the highway. Nice highway cruiser.

Ouch. Feel the emotional pain of losing a cool car for no good reason. Glad you made it unscaved. But a Lincoln? You're sure you didn't hit your head a bit?

A friend of mine spent decades working on Fords and Mercurys, but after a few too many of the non-interchange-ability issues that seem to be so prevalent in Fords, he threw his hands in the air and loudly claimned "- Not another Ford product in my garage! This is [series of expletives] it!" He sold all except the 69 Mercury Cougar converible with a 351C 4V, for peanuts... He drives a Pontiac Lemans 79 today with a chevy 305 as a daily driver and couldn't be happier - just saying

Thanks Anders .

Their old ad campaign stated
"Ford has a better idea".
But in reality it should have been,
Ford made it different for no good or apparent reason.

Heck I'm in Florida just northeast of Orlando & have a house across the river from St Louis. If you're near by let me know. Won't be back in St Louis till June though.

If its only getting 13 check the fuel pressure as the regulator could have went bad and the exhaust will not be blowing black smoke,I had a 84 Crown vic with the same fuel injection system and got around 25 on the highway.

I did spend 13 hours in Altamonte Springs visiting my nephew.
I ended up grabbing 8 and driving straight through from there
BUT
I should be traveling west during the summer and still want to visit Budweiser's original brewery.
So I will keep that offer in mind.
