I don’t know if I’m in the right section but I’ll ask this anyway. My son wrecked my 94 K2500 a week ago, and I picked up a 96 K1500 as a parts truck. I’m going to use the cab and clip from the 96 to rebuild my 94. My 94 has obd2 as well as the 96 , the only thing I can think of that’s different might be the programming in the computer. The 94 has a 454 and the 96 has a 350 . Will I have to change out the wiring harness in the 96 for the 94 ? And use the computer that came on the 94 ? Years ago I changed out a 454 for a 350 but both engines were from the same year 95 . Thanks for any input and advice.

A 94 with OBD2? Are you sure? There were some vehicles with OBD2 style connectors that were OBD1, could that be what you have? A 94 will be TBI, and the 96 will be a Vortec engine, so the you'll be moving wiring.

Ok thanks , just added a month to my rebuild schedule, I only have weekends to work on it. But I know what I’m up against now thanks. I just hope that the connector for the instrument cluster is the same because I’d like to keep that dash style in the truck if I could. If not everything inside my 94 cab is in perfect condition just the outside got fubar !! Thanks for the info have a great day

The only way a '94 has OBD2 is if someone already transferred an OBD2 system over. The '94 came stock with OBD1.

You will need a 5.7 PROM chip with same transmission.
