I was looking in to getting the front speaker for my brothers 66 Impala with factory AC and they seem to indicate with or without AC on the speakers. What difference does that make?

Maybe the speaker size matters in clearing A/C ducting and components.

If you are mounting them in the kick panel, it shouldn't matter. The problem with newer speakers is the magnet is too large to fit in the kick panel and clear the metal behind it. Choose wisely, it can be done. You would have to shim the speaker as to extend into the interior for the clearance in the back of the speaker.

I thought what I was looking at is just for the top of the dash. Now have me wondering about it. I could try looking at one of the old parts catalogs in the info area here and see if GM had different numbers for with/without AC.
