Hey gang -

Got a code for Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Low Input (Pending Fault). The CEI came on while passing another vehicle and I had to really tromp on it. Everything I read says this does not effect performance, but I have 20% drop-off in mileage. What should I be diagnosing here?

Thanks

A common cause of that light is a loose gas cap or failing seal on the cap. My older Buick did something similar and cured it by resetting the gas cap. Finally had to replace the cap.

Google that code and you will find the common causes.

Yah, tried that first thing since it's cheap. No joy.

I did, and they are all over the road with no mention of the mileage loss. So, looking for someone that might have some experience with the same issue. Thanks for your... input.

Focus on the evapleaks code, the mileage may not be related. There are several good trouble trees referring to this code, there is no set one time answer/fix for this.

Start searching for a vacuum leak. What size engine is in it? Engine configuration gives clues. As LS engines get older, I'm seeing more coming around for maintenance. I've found the intake gaskets are starting to fail. A quick and carefully used water bottle can be used. Basically, pour a little water down the intake mating surface. If the engine idle changes and it runs rough, the intake gasket is failing. Follow this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8rxpfRvHf8
Just in the last week, I've seen two failing. One in a 6.0 Denali and a 5.3 Trailblazer.
