Thanks, guys! I'm hoping too! I may put the engine & trans in tomorrow, so I can measure for a drive shaft. I'm also going to start on the engine harness. Once the harness is wired in, the front clip can go on. All the cooling & intake has already been done. I just got the cooling fan controller yesterday, so it's just finish the fan wiring. Then there's the AC plumbing. I haven't got a clue how that's going to work out. I have no plan yet. But, it's nice to have things starting to come together. Kat picked out the new wheels, so she keeps asking "when are we ordering the wheels"

Thanks, again! Another day in the shop and more parts installed. Got the engine parts back from powdercoating. Doesn't look like the same engine we pulled from our pickup. Just waiting for the new drive belt & idler pulley.

Harness time! Spent the last 3 days reworking the old truck harness, lots of wires to remove & splice. Now I have to put the harness on the engine and add some wires because a couple components have relocated. I'll also have to add a connector to mate the engine harness to the body electrical. Then there's the cooling fan controller to wire in.

I can appreciate the patience and planning that goes into adapting an OEM harness to fit your needs. I've done something similar and believe it's better to do it this way than to attempt making an aftermarket generic harness work the way you need it to. If I had to do it all over again, I would it the same way again. As always, good work! Your time and effort will be rewarded.

Engine looks really good, those labels on the cabinets look GREAT - and that wiring looks down right scary! Awesome progress; you'll be firing that engine up soon with the progress that you're making.

Made some big progress over the last 10 days. Finally finished modding and installed the engine harness and the engine's ready to install! The harness work left is engine to body connectors, but I need to set the front clip on for reference points. I also installed a new oil pan & dipstick. I neglected to notice the truck oil pan dropped below the crossmember and it was pointed out to me in another forum, , so I bought a pan kit.

Yes they are! Today's game plan is to put the trans on and put the engine in, then I can measure & order a driveshaft. Once the engine's in, I'll put the front clip on and take measurements for wheels. I'd like to use 215/75r15's on 6 or 6.5 rims, so I need measurements with the new front suspension.

The engine & trans are in and I decided to rework the one piece trans crossmember I made a while back. I made it 3 pieces and it's much easier to install.

Finally, the engine & trans are in and everything fits , well, almost everything. . The trans cooler ports are too close to the floor, so I'm going to modify the floor & tunnel cover for more room. I ran into this with the 700r4 cooler lines and I'm not going to screw around with them again.

Here's a few more of the engine hookups. The power steering pump return tube had to be flipped 180 deg for a good hose routing. The hose kit I used was the Gotta Show 131101, pricey , but the ease of install was worth it.

That hose kit sure looks like a much better quality kit than the one I bought 5 years or so ago. It may have been improved by now but, also you get what you pay for.
Looks like a tight fit at the exhaust flange outlet. Could be the camera angle.

No, it's not the camera angle, I had to make a 3/4" divot in the pipe to clear the edge of the frame. The trick is to put the pipe on the studs before the engine's in the mounts. The divot was cheaper than $500 headers.

Even with $500 headers there's no guarantee of a perfect bolt in fit. I don't know about the new headers but, they used to be sort of a high maintenance modification.

Thanks, David , it's been a long, slow road. Doing this LS swap was a big decision and I've really done more than necessary for a swap, but, I've tried to put a lot into detail and that eats up a lot of time. For example, I just spent 2 days on this air intake bracket .

Being that you already have a V8, you have a start.
