After dealing with my AC gauge hose leaking and a wiring issue, I finally got the AC working! And the original heater controls I modified to work with the Vintage Air Impala convertors work great!

I've had an issue with tire scrub on the front inner panels turning lock to lock. It's a Ford R&P and there's a fix available. They're plastic shims that snap onto the rack, under the boot. I found out about these on the Factory Five forum and those fixed the issue.

Nothing major to report, the 49's running great! Been in 4 car shows, hit the weekly cruise-in at a local bar every now & then, and trips to Dairy Queen and the beach. Fun stuff! Made new brackets to lower the rear of the bucket seats, added a relay so the radiator cooling fan high speed only comes on in AC mode, put in rear seat belts, and still working on the cruise control.

Well, most of what I've been working is sort of behind the scenes, wiring, testing. I did paint the engine cover red and labeled the new fan relay. Other than that, cruising, cleaning bug juice off, working on lawn mowers. Tomorrow, we're going to the Bear Lake Days festival car show, just a few miles from home. It's a good one!

We had an eventful day yesterday. Went to leave for the car show, turned the key, dead battery! Jumped it off the utv, tossed the jumpers in the Traverse because Kat was going to the show later, and left for the show. I saw that the alternator wasn't charging, so when I got to the show, I disconnected the battery cable and the AC module power. The car show was really a good show, probably 60+ cars, lots of spectators from the festival, and a lot of interest in the 49’s LS swap. In the end, they gave out trophies for the top 15 cars, judged by participants, and we won one!! The 49 did make it home without a jump, although running a little rough. I figure the alternator probably died last weekend and the long drive from that car show drained the battery and we didn't use the 49 all week. New alternator tomorrow!

It's been 2 months since the last post, so here's an update: FUN! We've been having fun with the 49! We've done several car shows, won some gift certificate door prizes, did some cruise-ins, and took countless rides. Yesterday, we went to the Manistee Laborfest car show, held at Douglass Park, on the Manistee River. Laborfest is a 3 day event, with live music, food, and the car show on Saturday. There were 60+ cars, really great cars, and lots of spectators. At the end of the show, they gave out trophies for the Top 20 and a Best In Show. To our surprise, we won a Top 20 trophy! How cool is that ?!

Thanks, guys! We never imagined the response that the car gets, being 5 shades of gray, and no bling. Besides having the 4.8 and all the work under the hood, people like the JoAnn Fabric interior. Kat says the interior fits the period of the car and doesn't want to have it redone. All she wants is a headliner. Works for me!
