Been working on stiffening the condenser brackets and sharpening up my tig skills. Here's the first one. Now that I figured out the process, the other three should go faster.

As usual, I couldn't leave the condenser brackets alone. First, I extended the lip past the first screw, that really stiffened up the brackets. The next thing I did was weld nuts on the brackets. I got tired of messing with washers & nuts on the backside of the brackets , so the welded nut took care of that issue. While I was at it, I welded in 2 nut plates for the horns. Easy Peasy!

Sweet to say the least. I wish I had developed your skills.
Do you have a goal to start up and drive?

I thought I would be up & running by now, but I've spent more time on the small details than I should have, but, the small details are what I like doing. If I thrashed just to get the car on the road, I know I'd be disappointed that I didn't do the work I'm capable of doing. Those details make my car my car, make it stand out.

Great work as always Tommy. I feel the same way. I catch myself dressing up welds behind panels no one will ever see, but I know its there and will haunt me.

Yep, Kat says I get too anal on the small stuff no one will see. Right now I'm looking at filling the 8 unused radiator mounting holes because they're there.

Had a chance to get in the shop today, so I made the LS steam port bung and welded it on the radiator.

One thing about being a little too anal about the small stuff is that it may help to avoid future drivability, and dependability problems. I say keep up the good work and attention to details.

Wrapping up the cooling system for now. Everything fits great and I also made some hardware changes. I used button bolts for the condenser, horns, and radiator and I also used u-nuts on the radiator, eliminating all the washers & nuts. Very clean. Another thing I did to clean up the front end was reroute the headlight harness under the electric fan and added a weather pack connector. Almost forgot, I put a hole in the radiator core support for the condenser lines. For now, it's time to get back to work on the the firewall.

Before I pull the steering column, I wanted to make a new shift bracket so I can try to use the shift linkage I had on the 700r4. The column I have came from Walton's as a kit, but it's longer than I would have liked, and the supplied shift bracket is unusable for what I want to do, so I made a bracket. It's just a prototype and I won't know how it'll work until the engine & trans are back in, but it's a start.

I've had this issue of the firewall mounted brake booster boot being too short to seal the mounting plate hole and I couldn't come up with a suitable fix, until now.

I bought a motorcycle boot, cut the big end off, cut the small end off the booster boot,

and glued them together.

The booster is offset from the plate hole, so I added a piece of tubing to make up the difference.

And the result is a perfect fitting booster boot.

You guys always amaze me the way you can come up with a solution. I very seldom can figure out something that will work.
