1990 square box Caprice with rear sway bar and cross member supports. Can,t seem to find a hole big enough to drop the starter out. Does the cross member support need to be removed?

Sorry for late answer, but as far as I can tell - no. even though I'm not clear on what you mean by crossmember support. The only "unboltable" crossmember I can think of would be the tranny crossmember.

Did some work on my brother's '85 (with the optional rear swaybar - f41 I think) it had no problems getting the original starter out. I happened to replace it with a ministarter I had lying around.

Thanks for the reply. I replaced the starter. The support is a bolt on frame brace that runs diagonally from the frame rail to the front crossmember, directly under the starter. From what I've found on the internet, these braces were put on at the factory as part of a suspension upgrade package.
Thanks again, Tim
