Anyone know what the factory dome light looked like? Did it have chrome trim? I have looked for the replacement fixtures and there are several different choices.

Since you have the non custom cab like our 64 and 65, it did not have a chrome rim on it, but was a light beige rim. Do not know what the custom cab had. Our 65 is a totally original truck with 7,500 miles on it and it has the beige rim.

To my knowledge, they were all panted plastic. The "chromed" ones were after market.

I can suggest the clear lens from LMC truck. It snaps into the same spot and even with the exact same bulb it puts out A LOT more light in the cab. Which is good for me, since I use my truck at night a lot.

I bought a clear lens along with whole new dome light since I had to replace my entire unit when it disintegrated as I went to replace a bulb.

As hilandr stated, they were all plastic... and had the fake chrome like the knobs and things in the cab. I believe, but I can not swear to it that it was part of the trim level package that had all of the plastic chrome bits in the cab.

You can buy either one from the parts vendors.
