Hi guys

I am desperate for some help. My mom’s Saturn ION she got new in 03 (2004) is still a nice car but it idles high. Has for years. Lately, it’s been much higher. The other day, I was more or less K Turning it around in our driveway so she didn’t have to back out and when I put it in park it went up to 3,000+ rpms!!!

I am quite confortable working on modern cars - I did the front wheel drive v6 Honda timing belt in my wife’s van.... but when It comes to diagnostics, the codes actually help, as diagnosing isn’t my strong point. This doesn’t have an engine light on... my GUESS is throttle position sensor.

I really would like to understand this more before I dive into it

I had a 2004 Chevy Cavalier and I had issues with the IAC (Intake Air Control Module). It is a small stepper motor mounted in the throttle body. They cost about $100. You will need a Torx drive to replace it. My issue was that it would not idle properly. I suggest trying it first.
