Hey guys, I'm about to swap a set of mildly ported 487 casting cylinder heads onto the 350 in my 72 Impala. I was just wondering what, if any, obstacles you guys that have done a set on one of these cars ran into that were out of the ordinary. I took out the A/C (except for the crap on the firewall), so the only thing in the way is the alternator, maybe some sheet metal and a few bolts that'll surely break.

I'm not exactly understanding what your concern is. ALLLLLLLLL first generation small block heads are interchangeable, PLUS, beginning with 69 heads, all small block heads have threaded holes in the ends of the heads to allow attachment of accessories, that were used on 69-later cars, to be attached to the engine. Thus, the 487 heads are a good choice for your 72 engine.
