Hello, I wasn't sure where to put this question so I put it here.

My friend has a 72 Nova he's parting out, and asked me if I wanted his headers and dual exhaust (for free).

My question is, I have a 93 suburban with the 350. He said since theyre the same motor everything should go right on no problem. But since my truck is about 5 times longer than his Nova I'm thinking that this wouldn't work. Does anyone have any idea if this is possible and any modifications it would need to work? My truck needs new exhaust anyway so it would be good if this did work. Thanks!

You might be able to use the headers, mufflers, and some of the connecting piping. You will still need to fab custom pipes to the rear of the truck or else see if you can modify OE or aftermarket truck pipes to work.

You can't go too far wrong if you get the parts for free. However, unless you are willing and able to do the fab work yourself, take the parts and your truck to an exhaust shop and find out if you are getting into a money pit before you hand over the job.

There "might" be a minor issue with the head to header/manifold pattern. Some of these late model heads have a single, un-threaded, "stud" where you would normally bolt the header flange to at the drivers Lt. front, and the passenger side Rt. rear. Can that stud be removed; is it threaded?

I've used the same 74 Nova headers on 3 different motors with different heads, one being from a 91 GMC. Bolting up shouldn't be a problem. The thing I would worry about is how much higher the engine sits in the Suburban vs. the Nova. I know my long tubes are kinda tight to the block and close to the floor. If I'm not mistaken the engine in the Sub sits higher, so I'd be concerned with the collectors shooting right out at the firewall or not even being able to get them up to the heads to bolt on.
