Are you planning to keep the stock steering gear? If yes, this is a first for me.

Those who choose an automatic transmission want transportation. Those who choose a manual transmission want to drive.

The Tri-Five Chevrolet vendors sell a set of plates that are used with the stock bench seat, but reposition the tracks further back to afford more room. Maybe make something similar for your seat? I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Hi Nathan, welcome. How tall are you?. Yes it is possible to do what you suggest, but it will probably cost a lot of beer vouchers.

Normally the steering column change out is done with front suspension conversions, or if folk want a tilt column.

Years ago i shortened mine at the top, Cut the shaft below the splines and took out 3", I machined a collar to slide over both pieces and welded it in place.
The main tube was shortened also. The column is still on a shelf in the shop today.
I would only advise this for someone with machine shop experience and that is an expert welder.

I know the stock coloumn s have been shortened when changing out steering boxes
Look into astrovan steering box swap

Or do as has been said and move your seat back some
