So I'm in the process of registering my car in Italy and they want a lot of information. I have most but I can't find the rear overhang length of a 53' Belair. If the overall length is 195.5 and the wheelbase is 115, that leaves 80.5 inches of front and rear overhang. I can't find how that 80.5 inches is distributed outside of the wheelbase.

Can anyone tell me how many inches it is from the rear of the car to the center of the rear axle?? My car is a 4-door but I believe it's the same for a 2 door.

Scroll upwards on this 49/54 forum page to a post called sticky posts and other things. click on that and look for the "restoration packet" for 54 Chevrolet if there is one then the answer to your question will be in there. If not follow the instructions and order one. They are free.

Why can't you measure from the rear axle centerline to say the bumper?

If not there, you can go to the GM Heritage web site and down load or look at one there. Look for: Chevrolets (All Models Not Listed Below) Show. Click on "Show" and find 1954.

Yes, I have the GM Heritage document but it only gives lengths for the front of the car. It does list a measurement for 'Grill to front wheel' and 'Grill to front bumper guard'. When added together it comes to 32 5/8. However, I wasn't sure if the 'Grill to front wheel' measurement was to the center of the axle or to the front edge of the wheel. If I assume it's to the axle, that would indicate a front overhang of 32 5/8" which would leave a 47" rear overhang.

I'm going to try and measure it this monring and see how close I get to that number.

I just finished the measurements. It turns out the 'Grill to front wheel' measurement shown in the GM Heritage document is to the axle. When I measured from the front wheel to the bumper is was approximately 33". So the rear overhang is approximately 47.5".

Yes, I could have made these measurements yesterday but it was dark, cold and raining. My car is located in an unattached garage. I was also looking for something official.
Thanks everyone for your replies.
