Having a hard time deciding between the 200-4r and the 700-r4. I would like to take a poll on this.
Witch one do you like ?

To a large extent, the choice depends on what engine you are planning to put in front of it and what the usage will be. he 700R4 is a bit stronger and I believe more things have been done to further beef it up. The ratios are slightly different. he 2004R is approximately the same length as a TH350; the 700R4 is longer, so depending on what you may have now, a shorter driveshaft will be needed for an installation of the 700R4. All this being said, I have a 700R4 in my car and I like it.

The big difference to me is the length and the first gear ratio.

Other than that, no practical difference.

I'm going to guess that availability of cores will matter in the future.

I put a 200-4r in my 57 wagon behind a nearly stock 350 with a 3:55 rear gear ratio and was very happy with the drivability.
2000 rpms going 70+ down the freeway.

I put a 200-4R in my 55 behind a 383 stroker and it works great. Swapping out a TH350, I used the same mounts and driveshaft. If they will hold up to a Buick GN, they are pretty tough. I know the GN transmission was beefier that the stock 200-4r but they can be built to take a lot of power.

"Well my time went so quickly. I went lickety spickley out to my ol' 55"
