Found this used block for a 1960?. I’m gonna go back original with cast iron power glide. Gonna rebuild it then salvage what I can off the 1958 348.

Yeah, the heads are in bad condition. The intake/exhaust valves had been sitting down on dirt. The engine rebuilder is questioning if I could even use them. Wish me luck! Currently waiting to hear back if the block has cracks or otherwise unuseable.

I have a back up 1959 348 in the backyard but it has water sitting in the cylinders. (Had no spark plugs) my fathers friend says it has a steel crank I might repurpose. Thanks for your feedback.

The 1960 348 block is .125 over. The heads need to be shaved slightly, while using a thicker head gaskets. The machinist said he can build it. I’m unsure about cooling at this point, especially with such high bore over.
