I have a 06 Silverado 2500HD with the 6.0 gas engine. A couple weeks ago while pulling my camper, it lost power and the check engine light came on. Cylinder 7 had a misfire. The plug wire was loose. I put it back on, cleared the code and continued on my way. Once I got to my destination, I kept getting multiple misfires. I found the plug for cylinder 2 had backed out. I tightened it back up. A loud tick developed as well. I took it to the Chevy dealership. They had the truck for a week and told me the engine is trashed and I needed to replace it. Said cylinder 2 failed compression test. I told them to put it back together and I picked it up. It passed the compression test I did when after I picked it up. I’ve driven it 40 miles since I picked it up and still shows multiple misfires. I’ll be replacing the plugs and plug wires next weekend(it’s parked at my property 200 miles from home). I just wanted to see if there is anything else I need to look for.

Check the plugs on the cam and crankshaft sensors. Mine was loose and they caused a random misfire. Make sure to put di-electric grease in the spark plug wire ends so when you install the wire the di-electric grease will coat the connections. Also check the spark from the coil. Does any other member know what the spark is supposed to look like? is it supposed to be Blue or yellow?

Spark needs to be blue. Yellow is a cold spark, i.e. low voltage.

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.
I’ve driven all 117,000 miles on it and it’s never let me down.

Just to add to my original post, when I dropped it off the service writer started telling me how he likes to use the 6.0 engines in his race cars. Red flag. A couple days later the same guy tells me the engine is trashed and needs to be replaced. Red flag. I would expect to see smoke coming from the exhaust if I had bad rings. It doesn’t smoke at all. Red flag.
