I have a 2009 Canyon with 82,000 miles that I have owned since new. When it was about four years old they had to replace the bearings in the steering column and everything was fine until the last year. The steering column bearing issue was a definite repeatable clicking feeling that I could feel in the wheel when pulling in or out of my drive way. Now I have another feeling in the steering wheel that does not happen as regular as the previous issue but I do feel a definite click in the wheel when making left hand turns, not every time but the feeling is there. Sometimes I can also feel it through the brake pedal. It is almost like something has shifted from where it should be and when I make the left hand turn it clicks back into place. I had the truck in to the dealer a year ago and they could find nothing, now it's in for another issue, the clicking feeling had not gone away and they still claim that they cannot find anything wrong. Has anybody else ever had a problem like this?

4X4?...check cv axles. The bearing cage will start to go south and make those kind of noises. When they get really bad it may make a hard turn left/right depending which side is bad. Makes for exciting lane changes.

Thanks for taking the time to answer, I appreciate the help. I thought your logic was pretty good so I copied and pasted my question along with your answer and e-mailed it to the service writer at the GMC dealer than night. Evidently they don't like suggestions on how to do their repairs, I called them just after lunch the next day and got a short reply that they found a service bulletin on the clicking in the steering wheel that told them it was caused by the lower steering column toe plate rubbing against the plate stud. The fix was to pivot the toe plate away from the stud. What ever they did the click feeling seems to occur more often now than what it did before, so much for Mr. Goodwrench.
