Went to buy a new fuel pump for my 01 s-10/4.3 v6. Almost fainted when the price was $280 ($218 on gmpd), apparently because it comes as an assembly with the level sender. Is there a way to buy just the pump? Or is it better to buy the whole assembly anyway?

I spend most of my money on beer, women and racing. The rest I just waste.

You can buy the pump by itself. www.rockauto.com has it. Part number PERFORMANCE ELECTRIC P988K
Some parts stores can order it with a part number.
Pump assemblies start at lower prices there too.
My preference is to replace the entire assembly.

Changing the pump on an 01 shouldn't be a problem. If thats the route you choose, get a Walbro pumpI bought the entire unit for my 96 on Amazon...Delphi...$140 with additional $15 off coup[on

I bought just a delco fuel pump on ebay for $40, but it was the wrong one for the module. Had to spend the $280 for the whole thing after all, but it was worth it. Now it runs 100% without having to do the mpfi spider.

An updated FI spider will help even more too.
