So I have the outer stainless trim piece. Can someone tell me what else I need? Is there an insert that goes in the back or? Pics?

On mine, (41 special deluxe, 4 door) I believe the center metal divider just snapped into place. It snaps into a bracket which is part of the center divider trim from the inside of the car. This is where the screws are that cover the center divider.

On the outside, there are grooves at both the top and the bottom where it rides the outer reveal molding, but all that is holding it is those brackets it snaps into.

When I took mine off initially, I bent it a little bit so it did not fit as snugly as when it was first on.

Here is a link to the rubber portion of the bracket it mounts to on Chevs of the 40s.

I believe the metal brackets rides this rubber strip...
