Guys,
If any of you are thinking about switching to Hagerty for your classic car insurance I can recommend them whole heartedly!
Today my '65 SS broke a rocker stud 20 miles from home. I called Hagerty, they had a very qualified driver and a rollback at my location in about one hour. Delivered to my driveway for $10, and this will not effect my rate. Great company! Bill

Glad to hear that - as I've been with Hagerty for three years now.
Haven't needed them yet.

Question --> Is road service included with your insurance? Or an option?
Thanks

There is an option that is extra that includes 50 miles of free towing. As I recall it's called 'Hagerty plus'. They only use flat beds w/cloth straps.

I had insurance from Condon-Skelly (Metropolitan) for 30 years and never had a claim. Recently, I changed to State Farm to consolidate my policies. I saved about $75 per year and have the same coverage as my other vehicles. I call the wrecker of my choice and send my agent a copy of the tow bill and get a check in just a few days. Very fair, and I deal with my normal agent.

Guys,
Hagerty Plus is an extra $35 a year. For me the big draw is an "agreed Value" policy as opposed to "Stated Value". Bill

Bill, my State Farm policy is also agreed value and the towing-assistance was no cost. My value agreed at 28,000 and is $212 per year. As I remember, my old Condon-Skelly was $194 and they wanted to raise it to $265 or so. That's when I jumped ship. Never had a claim with either insurer and no accidents, ever.

Pretty sure I called Condon-Skelly when I wanted to insure my 66. I told the person I was talking to that the engine was blueprinted, and he said they wouldn't insure it because the engine was modified?????????? I then called Hagerty and the agent there laughed after I told him what the other agent had said and he stated-"that's stock", the car has been insured with Hagerty ever since!
BTW-Heck of a lot cheaper than Nationwide who I previously had it insured with!

My engine is highly modified and was insured by Condon-Skelly. I posted my rates, but what rates do you all pay for coverage (if you don't mind)? I understand that it'll vary with location.

The only stipulations I had or have is the vehicle must be garaged and no daily driving to and from work.

$238 yr. without the plus, insured value of $35k.
I don't know who I talked to when I inquired about insuring it with Condon-Skelly, but when he told me that a blueprinted motor was a modified motor and that they wouldn't insure it----well you can imagine what I was thinking!
As stated, Hagerty had no problem when I mentioned the blueprinted motor, and the guy I talked to was very pleasant and knowledgeable, thus they get my yearly premium!
Just thinking, maybe should bump the value up a bit!

I tried to go with Hagerty’s with an agreed value, after I told them I had air ride installed on my car they wanted me to have a $1400 deductible! Asked why they said because all the low riders like to steal cars with air ride??I went with Grundy and It was almost a hundred dollars a year cheaper.they also pay for towing of my choice..glad I never had Hagerty.I am 64 and always had State Farm and never had a claim. But they wouldn’t do an agreed value..

I've been using State Farm agreed value for years. For $12,000 I had been paying $48 and it recently increased to $56. When the restoration is done in a few months I'm obviously going to have to increase the value.

I had been wondering if this sort of arrangement with SF was good, or if I needed to switch to a specialist like Hagerty. Good to hear that SF has been working for those of you that needed it.

Big Wrench, I have State Farm insurance with agreed/declared value on my 65SS Impala. You need a different agent!

redflags, I had Condon-Skelly on the same car for over 25 years. They kind of went downhill since Metropolitan began underwriting their policies.

State Farm for everything in my house except my Impala. Hagerty for that. $441 for Hagerty Plus with agreed value of $48,000. Can't recall deductible; maybe $500 like my other cars. Has unlimited tow. Someone mentioned 50 miles, but I thought it was 15 miles. Perhaps I misheard.

So I got my car back last week, (65 convertible LS3/T56)

State Farm wants a thorough 3rd party eval before they'll insure it for more than $18k. Hagerty doesn't need an eval but want $850/year which seems high compared to what you guys are saying.

UPDATE: And I just got off the phone with Farmers, who insures our home/auto. They underwrite through Hagerty and got me the same coverage offered above but for $100 cheaper. So I went with them.

Personally, I find it a plus to have an appraisal done on the car, If your happy with the appraisal, then you know what to expect if there is a loss, I got a reputable appraisal and they said the car was worth was worth 16,500 more than I thought it was, with the appraisal state Farm covered it as long as it is not a daily driver and is garaged. State Farm has insured all my belongings for 36 years, I worked for them for 33 as an auto estimator (retired), you do not get auto home discounts because you work for them.
Had to have it towed once and I called the number on the card (programmed in my phone) and they were there in 30 minutes, now everyone will have a different story how this or that happened, insurance is a piece of mind, who ever you get it from and feel comfortable with is who you should use. period

I just bought a 61 Bubble top. Haggerty had all the info for 3 days and a weekend. The car has air ride and Billet Specialty wheels. Everything else stock. They went from 375 a year to wanting me to put Lojak and a 1500 dollar deductible and it was going to be 750.00 a year for a stated value of 42000. I went with American Collectors better coverage 100 dedeuct and only 380 a year. Your call.

I find these post on insurance very enlightening! I purchased 1 1965 Impala SS in January, then came across another in April. Both are complete original, no mods. Gave 24,000 for the one, 20,000 for the other. Both are very nice, one was bought from original owner. Insured with Hagerty thru my Farm Bureau agency. Insured for purchase amounts, $438.00 each per year. No options, after seeing the quotes on here I think I need to have a talk with the agent. Am I thinking right?!!!

I have my 65SS with State Farm (Antique policy). Declared/agreed value, road service, uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist. $226 for 30K. I deal with my normal insurance agent too, which is important to me!

Thanks for the input. I also wanted to stay with my old insurance agent. Policy sounds about like yours, Antique policy. But $448.00 each just sounds out of line. This was my first time I was able to acquire these type cars so was naive when it came to insurance.

With Hagerty, I pay (as of May, 2019, last bill) $952/year for four (4) cars. Included in this amount is $175 for the Hagerty Drivers' Club "3rd Gear" option, which covers 150 miles towing, for all cars I own (not just the old ones), and other benefits. I think Hagerty is a good deal.
