One-owner 52K original mile plain jane with power steering and power brakes. It was last registered in 2003, and 1997 before that.
I don't know how many are out there, but it seems kind of rare. I assume most of the same year Impala parts would swap over.
At least it won't see the demo derby!
It runs and drives, but I need to get the carb cleaned up or replaced...
What do you think?

Nice car. That sure is a pretty rare combo with the 6-Cylinder and Manual Trans.
These are good cars. I drove the '71 and '72 style cars as daily drivers for 21 years straight.
Try to keep it garaged. One of their weaknesses is that they are known to leak around the glass.

IMHO: either restore that 'cayne back to 100% bone stock (radial tires would be an obvious exception ) or use that 1971 as a base for a vintage police car. Ohio SP ran that exact year/make/model but with 454 power.

Man that brings back memories . My buddy had a x Ohio State Patrol car like that. 454/365 and it was a unmarked car, no holes in roof or markings. His Dad bought it at auction for next to nothing...... That thing would fly.

It would be a fairly easy restoration, but I am going to drive it as is for a while. It has little power with the L6, but rides nice.
What can I do to bring the front end down? It seems like it must have the wrong springs? Plus, is there anyone who offers a sway bar kit? It doesn't have one, and I don't see holes for one, either.

Front end drop: either replace the springs or possibly install heavier springs in the back to even things out. http://www.springsnthings.com/
Swaybar: best bet would be to find a 1971-76 full sized GM car and, before salvaging the bar, links, etc.; take lots of pics to determine exactly what holes (if any) need to be drilled. If you're feeling really froggy, try to locate a 1973-76 Caprice and, grab both the front and rear swaybars from it.

Drove it back and forth to work a few times now on nice days. I love the small '76 bi-centennial bumper sticker! The AM radio and single, front-only speaker is a hoot, too.
(Photos were taken on separate days.)

I think a 454 swap is definitely in order. It would help drop the front end too.

Reminds me of my 1972 Impala when I got it. Mine sat under my grandma's carport for almost 15 years. The interior is near mint, with 1 rip in the seat. The dash was a little cracked, so I put a tach on it.

The radiator just sprung a small leak, so I bought an all-aluminum one good for up to 750hp, just in case.
It has stamped ends for a more original look versus the fabricated ones with all of the visible welds.
I'll post pics once it is installed.

Don't throw the old one away, lol.
Those old style radiators can be easily repaired, although it is getting harder and harder to find a radiator repair shop today.

No, I won't throw it out - but I probably won't pay to fix it right away either.

Any idea if and where I might find the rear window interior plastic trim mouldings?
Mine are cracked and broken.

I doubt that you can find much out there in terms of interior plastic. Unfortunately, that stuff deteriorates and there is no source that I know of.
Interesting that the car has the inline 6. how does it drive?

I love this car. I found a 1972 caprice recently that is another great find. It has 19K miles on it, 500 of those I have added in the last two weeks.
If you decide to sell this one, please keep me in mind.

That is just simply B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. I have never seen one like yours. She looks super solid and a very interesting combination with the six and stick on the tree. I am a big fan of this generation of full size Chevy. I have a 74 Caprice Estate wagon that my dad bought new in May 1974. The 74 now has just over 55,000 miles and looks as good as the day my dad bought it. Thank you for saving that beauty and continued good luck with her. Cheers.
