As some of us are finding out, the mechanical fan belt tensioner on cars with the HD Towing Package is no longer being made by GM and it appears that the after market folks have not taken up the slack. One option is to add the second (passenger side) fan. However, its not just a matter of twisting some wires together. Pasted below is a link to a forum with a great step by step (with pictures) process on how to do this. There is also a link to a custom made wiring harness for this application (get fan in junkyard or buy new). It also suggests that you might be able to get by on just the single driver's side electric fan (just don't do any towing). In either case (one or two fans) you will need to have your ECM reprogrammed to a lower kick-in temp.
