I don't know why so many people have so much trouble rebuilding a front end and have poor results. I have a NHRA record setting Super Stock Nova " SNOOPY ", and I am required by the rules to run the original front suspension. Other than altering the spindle arms (a legal adjustment) to remove the inherent, horrible "bump steer" these cars have, I have NO PROBLEM ! Even after pulling large wheelies !

Do you use the original eccentric camber adjusters on the lower control arms? They were the biggest problem for me. Cured it with home grown lockout plates similar to the Global West pieces, except mine have finer adjustment.

Seems to me you have to replace the center link (or cut and weld it) to eliminate bump steer. Since mine is a factory p/s car, can't really do that. I have heard of replacing the center link with one from another car, but never knew what the donor was.

On a street driven car, limiting the suspension travel during cornering with a big sway bar minimizes the effects of bump steer.

I'd be interested in more details of your attempt to limit bump steer.

On any street rod we build anything that protrudes into the engine compartment is gone. This includes the spring tower on ChevyII's, Mustangs, or a host of McPherson strut cars. This opens up the engine bay to where a Hemi has plenty of room and even the huge heads on a Ford 4 cam mod have clearance. A r&p cross member is used and since all the steering components are mounted onto the cross member bump steer is a non issue. Pics of a 67 Mustang with spring towers gone---much engine room.
