I got the wood steering wheel all filled in with the plumber putty. Now the fun part sanding it down! This along with the tilt will make the drive even better.

I spent months sanding on my truck. I don't ever want to see a long block ever again. The tilt column is the greatest thing. A new steering wheel has been on my list for a long time.

The factory repro wheels are nice looking but they are not very strong. I like the 2 prong Impala wheel. I hope I can get it looking like new again.
Corvette wheels work on these trucks to with the right hub assembly that can be bought.

What's involved with the hub swap to car pattern?

It's a direct swap. They hub is the same on either.I have seen even the horn buttons modified to fit them.
Here is a link to a forum talking about the hubs. I posted in this link.

I got the rear view mirror wired up tonight. Looks good to me!
Ran the wires under the gasket from the mirror down to the dash weep hole to the fuse block.

Final mounting of the winch today. Got the 3/8" bar drilled and mounted under the bed and winch all tightened down. Ran the cables for it under the truck to the compartment to keep the battery out of the weather. Will run a wire from alternator to battery with a cut/off switch to charge it with and also a volt gauge to keep a eye on it when charging are needing charging.

Started sanding the SS Impala wheel for the Ramp Truck install. Once I get the tilt cleaned up and painted I'll install it.
These wheels are $400.00-$500.00 on E bay.
I'll have less than $200.00 in this one when done.

Looking good. You don't seem to ever fall short on the project list. I wish I had your motivation. I ordered a steering wheel for my truck last night.

It's labor of love. Sometimes I feel like it's all I do too and sometimes I have a nice day and have plans to get a lot done and I can't get motivated to do anything.

I think I found a couple of projects if my parts get here tomorrow. I ordered a Hurst pro matic shifter along with the steering wheel. Once I get the shifter in and no longer have to deal with the old column shifter linkage I am going to attempt the steering column shortening trick. I want to sink the column in as far as possible. It's either that or stretch the cab and think the column would be much easier.

Working on the ramp Rat a little today.

Got new seals installed in the windows and making new door panel patterns for new ones. Should look a lot better once done.

Haven't updated this thread in awhile. Ramp has new push bumper installed with LED lights. Winch is operational with 2-6 volt deep cycle batteries tied to the truck battery with a 400amp contactor to cut it ON/Off from the dash.
Have all new 6 tires installed. Installed new to me exhaust manifolds. Did a fresh tune up during the manifold removal & install. Had to cut the old resistor wiring out of the harness and ran new wire for HEI. Have the air tank mocked up in the garage to start on that this coming weekend. You never know when you will need air on the side of the road.

Been awhile since I updated this. The ramp has been going through some much needed adjustments and upgrades.
New tires all around that my son got me while he was working for a tire company. Less than $200.00 for all 6 tires. I also pick up the rear wheel S/S simulators for $50.00 and 2 68 front chrome wheels for a set of old Pony car wheels I had. I have all the marker lights working and installed a 5 gallon air tank and 2-6 volt deep cycle batteries in series to run the air compressor and charge them off the alternator.
I took the lights off the front push bumper and put LED lights there and used the old ones on the back for night time loading. I got a old Unity spot light and mounted it also.
I'm finishing up the tilt wheel column install today I hope.
