My best friend from high school (class of 1984) and I were reminiscing about cars we had or should have bought over the years a few weeks ago.
1 car he looked at in late 1984 was a 1980/81 Turbo Monte Carlo that a co-worker had for sale and he was looking for something newer to replace his '75 Mustang II. It had low miles (15,000) and in immaculate shape but the turbo was bad and had sat for a year or so because his co-worker couldn't afford to fix it. He didn't buy it as they wanted something like $5,000 for it and still needed some major work.
We can't agree on the year but we both vividly remember the color combination. Dark red on the bottom and a cream white on the top (hood, roof, trunk) and it may have extended down the sides an inch or 2 with a dark red interior. The co-worker said it was a special edition and that is why he was asking so much. A Google search doesn't bring any pictures of this combination.
Was there a special "special" edition that existed for the turbo Monte Carlos with this color combination. Would it be like the 1970 Barracuda I passed up for $2,500 because it had a 6 cylinder and still kick my self over not buying?
