Hello all. I'm usually on the tri-5 or Corvette forums, but I have a question for you guys. What was the original tire for a '70 RS, 307 auto? We are planning to take my wife's Camaro that she bought new to the VCCA Convention in Tahoe in Aug. but we need new tires. What info I have says it came with 735-14, but I don't see that size listed anywhere. I am looking for the equivalent size radial, and raised white letter if possible. The best I can come up with is 195/75r14 or 205/75r14, but not in RWL. Were the RWL tires a different size by any chance?
Thanks
Ken

735-14 was a bias tire and has no exact equivalent in a radial, although the 195 or 205/75 would be a close enough dimensional match for replacement purposes on a driver.

If you are doing a stock resto, you can get 735-14 from a vintage specialty supplier like Coker, but they will be bias like the original. As for RWL, I have seen them on performance car restos, so I know they exist, but I don't know if those were bias or radial. I think Coker would still be a good place to start asking.

The original size was F-70 x 14.Converts to about a 205 70 I think.

Good news! I visited the Coker booth at the Good Guys show yesterday and asked them about RWL. They said they can supply Goodrich Radial T/A in 14" sizes.
