I've been hearing the same for awhile but heard it call the Zora. With Ford's new GT I think Chevy almost has to come up with something similar although I sure hope they don't put a v6 in it.

Hi Guys, the Porche with non-standard engine location is a cynical rule interpretation which dramatically alters the limitations of the production model.
However, that said they actually do produce sports cars for public sale.

The new Ford GT40 is and always has been a reverse engineered race car, with a facade of being production based.

The simple fix for this class is to not permit mid-engined vehicles. You lose the Ferrari and the fake Ford. But the Porsche can run as sold, plus the Viper, Aston, and Corvette C7 along with various Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and other real-world performance sports cars are all eligble as built.

If you want to run a mid-engine class then you have Ferrari, Audi R8, Lamborghini, McLaren, and a raft of other small bespoke makers.

I remember hearing a story about why GM has not used the mid-engine design. Apparently, there are drawbacks that they didn't want to pursue.
