Well, for a year we had been looking for a hot rod/driver solid axle car but couldn't find one for sale and the restomods are priced in the stratosphere. A couple weeks ago we stumbled on this '56 from an estate sale and brought it home yesterday. Three owner car with 81K miles, matching numbers, three-speed manual trans and two tops.

It has the 225 horse motor with 3 bolt exhaust manifolds. Evidently late production cars got these along with the 240 horse motors. I thought I struck gold at first until I learned that. It's Cascade Green, rarest color that year with only 290 cars out of 3467, beige coves, interior and soft top. Options are auxiliary hard top, power soft top, heater, radio, windshield washers,two-tone paint, twin four-barrel carbs.

The engine bay and undercarriage needs a shave and haircut. Plans are to give it a sympathetic cleaning without changing the patina and getting correct hoses and clamps and a T-3 headlight to match the other.

Pretty stoked!

Absolutely gorgeous! I have a complete, 225 HP, dual quad setup, to hopefully use one day; I also have an extra, early 56, dual quad intake manifold (although someone port matched the manifold to larger port heads). Wish I had the rest of the car to go along with it all! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Beautiful car. Someone stuck a lot of time and cash into that machine. Door jambs even look 300 times better than original and the stainless on the door panel is flawless. Although it is painted a low production color it may be the choice of the owner as they have no body tag to specify original interior / exterior colors. If it is a factory 2x4 car it should have a high RPM tach. My 57 was changed over so many times it had a high red line tack but a single four intake. Who ever restored the car didn't leave any details out to make it the most presentable example of this vintage. Now all you have to do is enjoy.
1960 was the first engine number to match the cars serial ( vin ) number which many refer to as a matching numbers car. Early cars have some dated parts which may correspond close to the cars build date .

What? As far as I remember the only tach that came in 56/57 cars was a 6 grand with no red line other than the super rare air box cars that got the column mounted 8 grand tach. The 1958 up cars had the different redlines per engine.
