...Car belongs to a friend of mine. He bought it brand new, has 22,000 original miles, UNRESTORED , probably the lowest mile original car in existance. 396, 4 speed , posi, no power steering. It sits in a climate controlled garage. He just bought a new 2015 Camaro and we were suppose to see how well the Beaumont does against it but just couldn't get a nice day to try it last fall so hopefully this summer the Muncie will get it's chance to take on the automatic.

49_Purple.

Nice 1968 Beaumont Sport Deluxe two door sport coupe. A truly Canadian colour scheme. Looks like paint code M = lower body exterior paint colour Matador Red. With A = upper body exterior vinyl top colour White. With the white SD396 white stripe kit.

The 1st photo is really interesting as it shows the front wheel well chrome as it should be, 1 of 2 pieces. The portion at the rear of the front fender by the SD sign is a separate small dogleg part, which appears to be missing from this photo. This is different than the 69 chrome replacement that we all use. We took my originals off back in the 70's and we kept the dogleg part but threw out the main chrome. For 1969 when chevelles first used wheel well chrome GM made it as one piece rather than two. I couldn't remember over the years what the upper piece looked like and this photo is so good that it is clear what the part looks like that I need. Of course, with only roughly 700 cars being made what are the chances I will find them. The replacements I used were directly from GM back in the 70's as they were still available and have stood up well over the years. I would replace them however with those shown in the picture even if they didn't display as well as the 69 chrome. I don't know how to post pictures of my car here otherwise I would have.

Temperature, alternator and oil pressure remind me of Pontiac instrumentation. Definitely a Pontiac version of a Chevelle.

People fear change because it threatens what they know, or what they claim to know.

Only the dash is Pontiac because Canada required a certain percentage of the car be made in Canada. Though the grille is Pontiac-esque, Beaumont was it’s own marque. And they used Chevrolet engines.
