Looking at a Corvair for sale that needs turbo rebuilt. Is this an expensive proposition? Have little experience with turbos and was wondering if I should pass on this car or go ahead with purchase and make repairs. Are there rebuilt units avaiable where it could just be swapped out?

Tat 2 is that your car for sale? Being under water never crossed my mind and I knew all along they had the forecast wrong about Joaquin! Like I said about turbo experience had a turbo sprint and loved it but never had any problems. Understand can be simple fix and also wazoo money. Learned to drive on a 61 4door Corvair and keep an eye out for something intriguing.

I've been here since 1969 and know what you mean. Would love to have a Lakewood if I had a choice. Two on cl not long ago but needed to much. If I bring home another real project right now I will be single again!

Agreed that the car does look better than asking price but could be diamond in ruff. I know the price was lowered a few hundred since I first saw it advertised. Had a chance a few years ago to pick up a 62 clean 4 door for only 1600. I still regret that one!

I paid $1400 for my clean 62 4 door. It's got about $1500 in new suspension parts on her and should be ready for the spring. Thank you Ralph Nader for making a perfectly good car highly undesirable to the masses!
