I wanted to share my project with all of you in chevy talk ... you have helped me out quite a bit , even before I became a member . This is my fathers 1949 Chevy Fleetline Deluxe , 4 door . He has owned it since 1955 , and everyone in our family learned how to drive in it . 2 older sisters and an older brother , I am the youngest of four and I am now 43 years old and I took the task of restoring it for my father . No experience in any of this stuff only that I am mechanically inclined .... So needless to say its been an adventure so far . I started the project New years day 2014 , and still going . Frame off restoration , 1959 235 engine that has been rebuilt , all body work needed has been done .... new floor pans , body panels , etc... upgrade rear end to a 3:55 ..... easy swap ....other than that every thing staying original .... Paint Color Granite Blue Metallic ... GM color on new Silverados ... So I will post pictures for your enjoyment !

The frame is clean as can be now ... I rebuilt the front end myself with a kit ... and following the instructions from a thread on line I was able to do it ..... It was challenging for sure !

Wow the car looks great. Love the color, and the dash looks like it just came off the production line. And no prior experience with restorations. Impressive. Very impressive.

The 49 is finally starting to show its face - just put the bumpers on and the hood ornament and Chevrolet emblem , and I polished the trim going down the center of the hood . The wrap around bumper end pieces and the grill guard look very sharp .... this car never had those pieces , so it looks different to me , but I really think those additions make the ride look complete. The Chrome work looks amazing , thanks to Verne's Chrome plating in Gardena Ca. Still more work to do though .... !

Yes, this is my first restoration , I can wrench and disassemble and assemble with a happy face all day long . The painting and the body work was my true fear at first ....but I was lucky to have a good friend who is an auto body expert give me a crash course in body work and painting and wet sanding and buffing ....I catch on quickly ...and it has been a great learning experience for me for sure ... I believe I am hooked on restorations now ..... Love this 49 fleetline and I will keep her forever and pass it on in the family ...... Next project "in my mind" is a ............. a 1975 Porsche 911 with a v-8 ... LS maybe .... California smog laws dictates my year of vehicle choice .... anyways , ya , I think I got the bug ..... lol Thanks for the compliments , they really mean a lot to me and I appreciate them ... Good day !
