any idea how these tacks were put in and/or how to replicate this technique---or---to do it differently?

They were applied with a tack hammer. Are you going to re-do your interior?
When I did mine, I used a electric staple gun. A lot easier.

yes--going to try and do all of it myself
outsourcing the steering wheel and looking at the LeBaron Bonney folks for the kit. Suggestions?
haven't pulled the tacks out yet, but are they in wood?

First, the tack strip is cardboard. Go easy removing the tacks. Also, when you remove the headliner, be sure to label each of the headliner bows. They were wrapped in paper which will probably be in bad shape.
Now, if you are replacing all the interior, seat covers, door panels, trunk, and such, be prepared for sticker shock. Hampton Coach is your best bet. Now part of Lebaron Bonney. The good news is, if you join The Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, they are offering a 10% discount to members with code VCCALIB and member number until Sertember 30th, 2015. call 800-221-5408 for details.

Great suggestions and will follow up.
Will you get credit for recruiting?

That does not matter to me, but thanks for asking.
Every time I read my reply above, I believe the wording is not clear. It should read, Hamptom Coach is offering a 10% discount to VCCA members.
Keep us up to date and any questions, ask away. Good luck.
One last work of advice, pictures, pictures, and more pictures. From every angle, up close and far away. Trust me, you can't have too many.

Hello Russell
My '47 town sedan came completely stripped out. Are the headliner tack strips glued in? Is that material available? I see rubber tack strip advertised; would that work if glued in?
Thanks and regards- Mark
