Well friends, my health has gotten so bad that they are putting me into hospice care tomorrow. The prostate cancer has metastasized to my gums, jaw, tongue, throat. The doc does not give me long.
I want to thank all of my ChevyTalk buds for the help and encouragement they have given me over the past 13 or so years. I even have had CT members come up to the house to help me with projects..What a GREAT bunch of guys. Words can not describe how much I owe to this bunch.
Thank you thank you thank you. I strongly urge each and every one of you to contribute to the site and to help members in any way you can.
Good bye, and good luck to all of you. We had some great times. Thanks for the memories

I could not think of any worse news to get today Thadd. This just plain sucks. You seem to be handling it very well, but the rest of us who have known you for any time at all are just taken back by it. We know that life is a gift, and we are each given a measure of it, but when we see a loved one near the finish line, it just doesn't go over very well. May you and your family be at peace during these trying times.

This post breaks my heart Thadd. You are one of the first people I met here on the site and knowing you is my privilege. Always friendly, generous and real. Praying with you.

Thadd my old friend this news hurts my heart so much that words cannot express what I am feeling. We meet at my first ChevyTalk event an the 2001 Super Chevy Show at Pomona which I attended with my then 13 year old son. You and I seemed to connect almost instantly. As we walked through the pits we talked about cars, our past, and a variety of other topics. Later that day Alex came down with a virus and you paid so much attention to him, a boy you had just met I was touched by your kindness. Over the past 14 years we grew to be friends despite the distance. I am going to miss you, your warmth, your sense of humor, and your huge heart. You have had a major impact on my life and I can only thank God for placing you in my life even if it was for only a short time. Thank you for the friendship and for including me in your life. You and your wife and family will be in my prayers.
Your Friend,
Bob "HYPR" Haas

For sure.

Yes, we love you, and will remember you and your kindnesses for a long long time, even as we aspire to the level of understandng and kindness you exibited so often.
I'm going to keep wearing my blue T-shirts forever in your memory.

Hopefully you are not mad and instead of asking 'why me" you ask "why not me? I'm human and this is a human condition."
It may help ease the process old friend. Hope so!

Thadd,

Very sorry to read this post today. Thoughts/prayers en route. Hope they are able to make you feel welcome & comfortable there.

Reading through the replies to this, I wish I'd been able to meet you during my road trips. That's kinda why I started doing them back in 2002 ... to meet people because you just never know what's going to happen &, in many cases, I found that we have more in common than just an interest in cars & such. Meeting people in person made the board experience so much more meaningful.

I hate to hear stuff like this. I have no idea why but so far I have survived colon, lung, bladder cancer and the treatments, surgeries that go along with them in the past two years have added two heart attacks and by pass surgery to the list. I only wish that if I have something working for me I could pass some of it along to others.

I'm so sorry to hear this Thadd. You sir have always oozed class and grace and will be missed terribly. You're near the top of the list of members I wanted to meet face to face, perhaps in the next life my friend.
