With the help of a few good friends, my '70 Chevelle body/shell is back in my hands.
It has been nearly 10 years since I last touched the Chevelle. The last time I touched it, I completely tore it down, put the parts in the basement, put the shell under a deck I built, then moved out of province taking the Chevelle parts with me. I have been back in BC a few years now, and the parts are no longer with me.

I have been gathering parts over the last 6mo-1yr as I can afford them. I have a hood, trunk lid, header-panel (with headlights), and a near mint Black SS dash pad so far. I still have my original fender extensions, headlight bezels, and hood hinges.

For the hell of it, and to begin the rebuilding process, I bolted on the trunk lid.

A very good friend of mine (bigbowtielover) has given me a near complete '70 Chevelle donor car, and a 1970 Buick rolling chassis.

Now, If only I had more room to work...

Cortez Silver on Black is one of my favorite color combos. My Chevelle was originally born Camaro Gold (53) on Black (753), and will be bringing her back to that color. She came equipped with an F40 suspension, 350/350, one tire fire with 2:56 gears, and a bench seat.

A couple of weeks ago, I received an OEM replacement floor from California. It's from a 1970 Buick donor, but other than the body mount brackets in the front, attached to the firewall, it is exactly the same floor as used for the Chevelles, Monte Carlos and Oldsmobiles.

I have been chipping away at the spot welds, and am almost ready to remove the OEM floor in one piece with the inner rockers and floor supports still intact.

A couple of spots need minor attention, but have donor panels provided by the floor in my Chevelle currently.

If anyone here is in need of an OEM full floor or full trunk, please let me know. NOTE: Currently, my source does NOT have Chevelle specific parts.

I do have a friend that has parts for a '71-'72 tho.

I have also aquired a pair of fenders (need some tlc) and a mint grill.

I also have a line on a set of mint doors, waiting to be picked up. Slowly coming together.

Doors didn't happen as I had hoped for. The search continues. The Buick frame is now in my posession, and am currently trying to get the 3 car garage built now. Good contractors are hard to come by.

I have to say, the Chevelle forum is a LOT quieter than the Impala forum.

Has anyone ever swapped in a set of '96 Impala disc brakes?
Someone told me that they are a direct swap, is this true?

Update:

Last summer I got my hands on a running/driving '70 More-door, complete and 100% original (21,000 mi car) for parts.

Now, I have fenders, hood, rad support, etc, 350 motor/350 trans, rad, complete wiring harness, dash, column, fuel tank, windshield trim, bumpers...

Also, I have completed the build of my 3-car garage WITH 2-post lift, as well as a 13'x12' mezzanine.

That looks like a very decent chevelle. You almost hate to see it tore down and used for parts.

I agree. 21,000 original miles on the odo. Nothing was changed or modified other than the rims.
Even found the option sheet under the bench seat.

The price was WAY too good to pass up for a donor car. I only wish the trunk floor was as good as the rest of the car.

The rest is available, If anyone's interested.

With the number of Chevelles out there for sale, many of them done to the 9s, I'm wondering if it is economically feasible to restore one that is that far gone.

She is waiting patiently for her turn for some attention.

To make it look complete again, I hung the front sheetmetal and rad support. Nice to see it look complete again.

A month or so ago, I was given a complete oem DS full quarter panel. That completely takes care of that issue.

Also, The rest of the 4-door parts car is STILL here (shipping it to my buddy in Ontario didn't happen...), so it will be going under the saw blade soon, thus making the wheelwells available to me.

Mercedes, If you've never tackled body repair, I can understand why you'd think it was too far gone to resurrect. However, with having a full replacement quarter panel, that really rusted area will look like it was never rusted as soon as the replacement quarter panel is hung.
Not many people are able to see the process in as few steps as possible if not willing to use full sized panels as opposed to patching. Once you have the COMPLETE area removed, one can also address any underlying problems that also become visible while said panel is removed.

IMO, She's not as far gone as the photos make it seem.
