i'm basically finished an engine swap and ready to start it up.

i'm getting no spark--verified thru in-line spark tester and no rpm signal on tach when cranking.

This HEI/ESC distributor stayed with the "new" engine. i modified it to run w/out ESC by connecting the black and green wires on the ESC pigtail.

Sounds like it's broke. That's about as vague as your discription.
What vehicle, what was the engine out of?
Did you verify 12 volts at the "bat" connector while cranking, not just with the key on? Did you try it with the tach disconnected? A shorted tach or wire will keep it from firing.

Either the pickup coil was not plugged in fully to the module (most likely) or the module itself was bad (though i doubt it).

i did replace the module.
