Vega's were once cheap and plentiful.. About 25 years ago I bought a clean, good running Vega for $200 just because the radiator was leaking. Now I'm getting dumb ideas about another project I don't have time for - I have come across a decent 73 wagon for cheap. If I were to get it, I would upgrade the axle and front susp to s-10 pickup stuff, and swap in an ecotec and 4l60 for a fun driver.

What worries me is regular crap like door hinge pins, window regulators, weatherstrip, body panels, etc. Are there any sources of reproduction parts? Or would I be stuck searching private collections for ever after?

I spend most of my money on beer, women and racing. The rest I just waste.

Not trying to discourage you, but if it doesn't fit some other type of GM car, you won't find it reproduced for the Vega or Monza. There are some specialty shops that do the valance panels, but no sheet metal or trim items. A lot of parts for other cars cam be made to work, like Camaro armrests and seat covers. Vega guys tend to have a huge parts stash (I have 20 parts Vegas myself) and are usually willing to help. Check out h-body.org.

Thanks for the info, I suspected as much. I did find some trim and seals and stuff on Jc Whitney.

As I'm new to this forum I don't know if asking questions years after the original post is acceptable. But her it goes...do you have a 3 speed automatic shifter for sale/trade? And do you know if the trans hump hole is different for an automatic vs a manual shift lever?

I had a 1972 Vega in 2003 and 2004, was close to new with an automatic.

It appears that the hole in the tunnel would be universal to either shifter. However, I am not sure.

The early Vega had a Powerglide so I wonder if other Powerglide floor shifters would drop right in?

People fear change because it threatens what they know, or what they claim to know.
