Need production numbers of how many 74 Laguna s3 454 4 speed numbers matching cars were manufactured. Reason we're asking is we just purchased one by accident. It has the letter Z in the Vin tag and appears it was made in Canada and delivered and sold in California. Not sure it's worth anything, my wife wants me to turn it into a ratrod. I told her it's too nice of a car to do that.
My actual plans are to do a full frame off restoration so everyone can enjoy. Please give me your thoughts be fore my wife gets the chop saw out.
The car is numbers matching with a solid body, clean interior no cracks in the dash pad w/AC, carpet and seats are awesome headliner is perfect. The plastic door panels not so good.
A lot of nos parts came with the purchase. There is a brand new never used totally perfect 4 speed speedometer still in the box, couldn't believe my eyes. I need serious offers and or trades of equal value. Anybody interested message us at

Canada keeps very good records, you might try to get a production packet from GM Canada. I want to say something like 600 74 Laguna S3 4 spd cars were made but I can't remember.
I found this at the 73-77 Chevelle page.
"You can get a "Restoration Kit" from General Motors for absolutly no cost to you but a couple mintues of your time and a little willingness to supply them with some simple information regarding your car.
Call 1-800-222-1020. Be ready to supply the year, make, model and VIN of your car. They take down the information and they mail you out this really cool, thick packet of information that includes specs, option lists, car club listings and a booklet of aftermarket parts manufacturers and distributors. You don't even have to pay for the phone call! It doesn't get any better than this!"

If the letter "Z" is the plant code then that would designate the Fremont California plant.
I have the GM of Canada docs for my car, which was built in Oshawa for US consumption.

1258 454 74 lagunas built for Canada need to order your General Motors of Canada restoration build sheet. They'll break it down for how many transmissions in four Speed.
