I installed a SBC 350 in a 1962 Studebaker Hawk. Also a 700R4. This will now make this car a driver!
The change over is almost complete. My problem now is the power steering pump is running hot. (325F)
This is the second pump! What is the normaltemp for this pump? There was no problem with the steering valve or the system with the old engine. With the engine running and not turning the wheel the temp is hot! I thought there would be no flow whith the wheel not moving but there is. Is there a diagram of what this pump is doing? I call this the stand-by mode. With a pressure gauge installedand the flow blocked the pressure is 800-850 PSI.

What am I doing wrong? Or do I try a cooler?

Just a thought, but maybe the pulley you have on the pump is too small making the pump work too much.
