I was just curious about how long members have owned their Nomad. I just passed 40 years with my 55. I bought it in 1974 as a clapped out shell without a motor or trans. It is modified and far from original. It was a parts car for the first 55 Nomad I built in 1970, since sold. I liked owning two at the same time for a while. I will not be selling my 55, and at age 71, even though I have other old cars the Nomad will always be the favorite. Are there any one owners out there still in the same family?

We have a member in the Chevrolet Nomad Association who also belongs to the local Mile High Nomad Club in Denver who purchased a 1955 Nomad brand new in 1955 at a Chevy dealership. His name is Bob Miller and he is still very active, he is the treasurer for the Mile High Club and shows his Nomad a few times a year. The Nomad restorers still have an original car to look at, as it has the original paint and original interior. I am sure there are other examples of the original family still owning Nomads, good luck on your search.

I'd bet money that Bob Miller is the last original owner to have bought a Nomad off the dealer lot new. Here's a shot from his at the CNA convention in Rapid City a couple of years back..

It's a time warp and one of my favorite 55's for its family heritage. It's a driver too. We traveled together going to the Rapid City Convention and I can say I was surprised to see his stock power brakes stop that car on a dime when the traffic on I-25 north of Denver came to a sudden stop. He put that 'Mad on it's nose to stop.

Our family Nomad has been with us since '73. Almost a full year before I was born. Dad bought it from a guy who's Dad worked at Craig Chevrolet in Arvada. That was the same place where Joe Umphenhour worked. The guy that sold it looked us up and called sometime around the point where I was in high school asking to sell the car back to him. Dad declined. I'm still not sure how he contained is laughing on the phone. It won't be sold as long as I'm around either...

I've owned the same Nomad twice. I bought it as my first car in 1970 during the summer between my sophomore and junior years in high school. In 1975 I sold the engine and gave the body to the engine purchaser's younger brother.

In 2002, I bought it back and still have it. It's rusty as sin but I am slowly working on it.

'57 Nomad - bought my first car back.

I've had mine for 3 years now, been a slow process restoring this one. I doubt I'll ever sell it, something very cool about Nomads. A couple of pics of where it started and where it is now. Just finished getting the glass and stainless installed, I plan to start wiring it this weekend.

I bought mine in 1995 and it took me every winter and a couple summers to get it finished in 2008.

I bought my '56 in 1976, just after it got off the boat.
I bought my '55 in 1979, and it has been down under since the late 1950's.
I bought my '57 in 1985 and I believe it came to Australia in 1979.

cheers, Des

I bought my 55 Nomad in mid May 1967 with 9500 miles on the clock for $292.00 and drove it off the Chevy lot. I bought my 56 Nomad a few days after Christmas 1968 for $125.00.
still have both. took the 55 to a car show last night downtown on Route 66.

Hi Every body. I'm new here and this is my first post.
I started driving my 56 Nomad in February of 1970 as a junior in High School. But Ive been riding in it since it was new. I have a picture of the two of us in 56 when I was 3 1/2 years old and the car didn't have a 1000 miles on it yet. I have a lot of history with this car and some day I just might get a chance to share some of it.
