Any help is appreciated! Was driving along today and the next thing I know the instrument display says low fuel and the guage says empty. There's at least 1/2 tank of fuel in the car. I looked for a fuse and could not find one in the manual for the guages. Anyone have any ideas? If it's the sending unit is there any way to diagnose? How hard is it to replace? It's 2002 ZO6.

Very common to C5. There are two tanks and the sensor that detects when one empties and transfers to the other gets dirty.

Dump 20 oz. of Chevron Techroline into a near empty tank, fill up and drive. It may clean the sensor. Also, use Chevron gas that has the additive in it.

Do the Techroline procedure every 5K to 10K miles. I used to do it every other oil change, changing oil between 3500 to 5000 miles. I would do it just before the oil change so that any contaminants would get flushed.

Thank you sir! Now for the $64,000 question. Where can I buy Techroline? I do run Seafoam once in a while. Does that do the same thing. I appreciate the response. Have a great weekend!

One more note. I checked all the fuses then disconnected the + battery cable for a minute thinking maybe it would reset things. Hooked it up and it was working. Car only has 8k on it so I suppose sitting doesn't help it.

I buy it either at the Chevron station or sometimes the local O'Rielys (sp) auto parts store will have it on sale. Maybe you can mail order it.

I'm not real familiar with Seafoam but I think it's an internal cleaner whereas Techroline cleans sensors and fuel injectors, stuff like that.

Eight K! Dude, you need to start enjoying that thing. One of my b-i-l's bought an '01 Z with 21K on it last February. He's put 5K on it since.

Disconnecting the battery cleared it's head of the codes.

I had a thread on How to Access Codes from the dash and then a list of every code and what it was but I think it has dropped off the forum's pages. I kept the procedure in my glove box. If I can find a copy I'll scan it and send it through pm.

BTW, I used to live in Barron.

I had the same problem with my c-5 gas tank... I started using ''shell 93" octane gas with the technotrol addiditive(I think), and shortly, maybe within a hundred miles or so, the problem went away and didn't return...
hope this helps.
