Well I just turned 63, the company that I worked for was sold, and it is finally time to start working on my 51 convertible project. I have several collector cars all original and I decided I needed a street machine. Over the years I have owned several 51 convertibles, and for one reason or another I have always ended up selling them. I purchased a 51 convertible that is all painted, motor rebuilt, and needing all the rest. It is in great shape, the floors have been replaced, as well as the trunk floor. I want to build a street machine that is comfortable to drive on the highway, and I realized that this car is too good to do that to, so I went out to find a different one. I found a rough one in western Iowa and purchased it. Attached find the pix of it being delivered about a month ago. It needs everything. I am going to document everything I do to it on this blog. I am always interested in comments so keep them coming. MIke

Mike,
Just found your article on the 51 convertible. I find it interesting because my first car was a 51 conv. back in 1959. Not to make a long story, but my 51 I have now use to be next to our junior high school when we were kids. I found a blue 52 conv in about the same shape, but looks like a lot of work. I very interested in your progress, please keep us posted. If you want to talk more about this you can send me an email. Donn

Can you please tell me where the frame is stamped with VIN numbers. I'm told they are on top of the frame rail right below the drivers seat. I need them to register my car in Calif. I'm going to cut a small hole in the floor to verify it. Otherwise I have to raise the body up off the frame. Can you help me?
