Today I cleaned up and installed my spare steering column, tie rods, and idler arm in order to:

1. Move the frame around more easily.
2. Figure out where the front shocks will fit and mock up the Gambino front shock relocator brackets.

It's going to be tricky, but Alex makes his upper bracket fatter (1/4" I think) so that you only need one to cradle the top of the shock. Space is limited with the stock steering gear box right there. I think the passenger side will be easier. Pics:

Now, I will admit... I do an update pretty much anytime I "sneeze in the garage" so to speak. I do this for 3 reasons"

1. So I will have an accurate journal I can print and put in a scrap book someday.

2. I value your input!

3. I want all this info to be in one place in case it helps someone else. I don't know about you, but I spend.most of my time scouring chevytalk, the hamb, and the rest of the web for answers...and many of them are not readily available. So here is tonight's research. If you bag a 49-54 by notching the front IFS instead of going with the fatman ultra low for Mustang 2, and you use the Gambino parts, Alex recommends front shocks from a 1973 Chevy C10 1/2 ton pickup truck. This translates to the Monroe 33033 front shocks and they run about $32 each. So begins the next phase...shock mounting!

You do a good great job documenting your build. I wish I had started my build thread earlier.

Today, I had our school shop teacher machine down two heavy duty Monroe shock bolts to fit the lower holes. My Gambino shock bolts will go on top. Then we had dinner with my folks and my Pops helped me drill a bit larger holes in the lower Gambino shock to control arm tabs to receive the Monroe bolts! It was a success and it wasn't even my day off from work! Thanks all!
