if so.....whatchya doing? This forum isn't very busy and I know there must be people out there working on them.

We are getting hubby's going after he smacked a big buck with it. We took the motor out and put it in our 4x4 truck at the time cuz we needed to get around.....but now the beast is back. The motor is back in it and it is looking good. He has the fenders ordered from a body guy and all the parts collected to put it back together. We were going to have to order a trunk pan and pay a hundred bucks shipping. I suggested he put an ad on craigslist and before he coould even get his ad entered craigslist suggested he look at an ad that was for the trunk pan....brand new. The guy had ordered it and decided not to use it....and he was going to be returning it tuesday and this was saturday. Sometimes things work out. He also had both complete sides of floor pans and a couple quarterpanel patches.....hubby got it all for 260 bucks. (he wasn't sure he needed the floorpans cuz he isn't ready to take the carpet up yet but we figured we could store them away or trade for something....the price was right).

That's what we are up to on his second gen. But it has had to take a back burner the past few days as he helps me fire my 51 business coupe for the first time since 82.

I've got a 78 that I've been working on for about 4 years. Its a little slow as I work on it in the winter only. First winter I had it i gutted it and replaced the interior.(it is drivable and I do so in the summer) I've replaced the exhaust, new tires and wheels, . This year though I'm getting ready for a new motor. Block is at the machine shop, and the rest is in our shop. Motor is going to be built old school with double hump heads.

Cool. Nice seats. What are they from? Hubby (stephenweaver on here) has ricaro's in his. Stock seats were gone when he got it so he upgraded. The old camaro seats never did feel as nice. His is a 500 horse 350...also has 1968 double hump heads (ported and polished and big valves) and up to 250 horses on the nitrous. It has ladder bars and coil overs to get that to hook....but on the outside its just a plain brown wrapper. That wait while a motor is at the machine shop is a killer I bet. Be sure to postsome updates here when ya get it going.

I hope to drive mine (51) in the summer and fix in winter just as you are.

Can't remember what the seats were ot of. They are leather and drivers seat is electric. Paid $50 for them at pic an pull. Well mine wont have near the hp that yours does. I'll end up around 375hp, which is right where I wanted to be with this motor. I won't run NOS as it just scares me.

I have a 73 RS/(fake)Z28 that I have had for several years. Here is a link to a picture from a calendar it was in. It started out as a stolen total when I bought it.
http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3062/2920838992_d689...

That was in 2009. Its in my shop right now getting a few changes. Swapped out the 3.08 posi for a 3.73 that I had built. Installing a 6A MSD and a new distributor.
Drive line loop. New traction bars. Trans cooler. Changed the wheels out for AR torque thrusts last year but I still have the welds so I can change the look from time to time.
It would be nice to see a little more traffic on this forum. I know there is a lot of 2nd gens out there.

Nice. We have weld pro stars, too.. Hubby wants bigger but i think the 15 pro stars look perfectly proportionate. His is just an lt....a guy up the road restores second gens and has a lt/rs....still havent seen a lt/rs/z28 since hubby told me its possible and I began looking. Bet you will have some fun with it this summer. We plan to, too. (We lived in tonasket when we hit the deer...used to love 97...so straight and open. Also the turbo 400 in it has a shift kit and converter that dont shift til 3600..so it was some good times) we have 3.73 too. They are great but sometimes we wish we had overdrive. When he originally built the car he spent a lot of extra time and money making it very quick and street legal. It has 3 inch exhaust all the way back, too. He loves driving through parking garages setting off alarms...lol

Its been sitting 12 years as we have been racing all over the west. Now we are done with that and concentrating on getting our rides perfected.

Crazy yours was a theft recovery. I cant imagine how crappy it would be to have any car stolen....but especially our classics.

Do you ever go to car d alene? They shut down town...great show. Not like the good guys shows but cars come from all over the west coast....ad 73's are allowed.

He raced it a few times on the eighth mile in monroe....ran right on 8 seconds without nos...but it would have done better if we had a trans brake and also it is on the 5/8 oval...so not much shutdown area so he never ran it through fully. He usually had his hands full trying to turn and slow down. He had a big grin every time, though.

I've watched the drags at Monroe a couple times. NO WAY. When the cars start sliding down the track toward the infield when they do a burn out. Not a good sign.

Yep....saw some crazy passes there at Monroe.....just hated when Hubby was outta whack....He just loved having a place to rce down the road.... There was a crazy chevelle that wasn't street legal that almost hit the wall every time it ran.....I wouldn't want to be that guy's wife...lol

Spokane, that's another story. We haven't ran there yet but it is a beautiful track. have you ever been or ran it? If all goes right we will get to unleash the best this spring.

We like pacific...still sir to us too. Last year they had the division 6 bracket finals at spokane...640 cars....mostly door slammers. I have been to a lot of drag events and that was one of the best ever. Everybody brought their A game. Spokane is super cheap, too. It was under 15 most times we went as spectators....and there are no spectators for some reason. You can still bring in outside food and drinks so that makes it affordable, too. When the county bought the track they hired a famous guy from over there with last name of Austin (im sure you know who I mean) to run it....he authorized 12 million in repairs or something like that....and people didnt get paid and he got outed....but the track is awesome.

The guy who does our machine work, a good old friend of ours kinda lives in Yakima....Bob Inks. You know him? At that division race he had motors in 35 cars representing 7 tracks....his shop in bothell is t and d machine...not sure what he does in yakima....he is supposed to b retiring to there but he has a lot of cars fromover there.

You should come some friday night. Twenty bucks and you get to play all night. They callit street legal drags. A second gen would definitely be one of the coolest cars out there. Some have brought the new gen camaros...and ran 18's...sad...

'79 Z28 here....wife's car, she's owned it since around '83. Orig. 350, 4sp, 3:73 car. T-Tops, deluxe interior. We took it off the road in '96, been collecting parts. I promised her she'll drive it this summer. I'll rebuild the short block & I have new-in-box Vortec heads.

My son had a 72 Camaro and changed the stock hood for one with a big bulge to give more room for a blower I guess, but mostly because he thought it looked cool. Then he grew up, moved away and sold the car. But the stock hood is still sitting in my barn. It is rust free and no dents. Any idea what it might be worth?

I'e got a '76 that i'm slowly working on. Did the interior last year, got slowed down by some health issues late last year & early this year. Right now i'm replacing the rear end in my '71 Nova, also upgrading the brakes to drilled/slotted rotors. Hope to have that done in the next couple weeks. I'll swap the tranny in my '69 camaro and then get on the '76. I have a GMPP 290hp crate engine for the '76, gonna do the frond suspension & heater core while i have the engine out too. Hope to have it done by fall. I'll get some pics on soon.

Hubby cant go to canada because he had a problem entering when we lived in tonasket...he forgot about a DWI he had in 1966 when they asked...so he is undesirable...lol and so he thinks Canada is undesirable...lol.

We just got back from the division 6 bracket finals in Woodburn. Saw cars from mission.

I had a friend that had the same problem entering the US. A dwi from when he was 17 in '69! First and last time he ever drank. He had to get some kind of pardon thing to be able to cross the border. Silly law they have on both sides of the border.

Yeah, they told hubby he could get some sort of pardon but he decided he don't like it there anyhow, lol. He did cross into canada at Blaine in July to pick up some really nice second gen parts. The border patrol escorted him to an area where the seller met him.

Yes, silly laws.

I am working on an original complete numbers matching 1 of 600 built 36,000 mile 1970 SS/RS 396/375 L78 Camaro when I can find the time. This poor car has been sitting in my garage for over 10 years while I work on other peoples cars. One of these days............

1970 had the L34 350-HP and the High Compression Solid Lifter L78- 375HP.. 71 had the LS3 300-HP. 72 was the last year for the Big Block LS3-250-HP 396, They did not build many 72 Camaro's due to the labor strike at the Norwood Plant. I want to cry every time I think about the 1200 72 Camaro's that GM crushed cause they could not be finished and sold due to goverment regulations... I will dig up and post some pictures of my 70 SS/L78.. The car sat in a barn for 25 years in Kentucky when I found it. It was a condo for the critters which had to be evicted.

Hear are a few of the old girl…. The car is an absolute beast. I have owned a few 70-71 Z/28's and they were pretty quick but nothing like this car, it is just Unbelievably fast. It just Annihilates the rear tires when you press the gas peddle to the floor.
