Running hooker supersport headers. 1 3/4 primary leading out into a 2 1/2 dual exhaust with 40 series mufflers on my 73 vette ..
Is it worth installing an x - pipe?
Heard there is an increase in torque and horsepower..Is it worth it though? I'm sure there is some increase but seat of the pants feel is a different gauge..Any opinions?
Thanks...

Changes the sound/tone and usually will provide a slight seat of the pants feel on a street car. More torque at mid range, where you really NEED on the street. Upper end power and feel isn't changed much in my opinion. I'd go for it if you have found one designed for your car/application.

I have the same setup as you do except I have Hooker Super Comp Headers on my 468 cid motor. I added an 'X' , and immediately noticed a change in sound especially at cruising speed. It made the sound a bit quieter and mellow. As far as performance goes, theres no seat of the pants feel before and afterward...but im sure its helping with the exhaust gas scavenging . Im glad I did it because its quieter with near straight thru mufflers. If youre interested, I can post the Vette running at idle and a walk-around that I did.
