I had one like this. Wish I had it now. My color was Burnt Orange. Was a dead ringer for the Sierra Gold on my '57.

Every dealer must have had an orange HC as I can recall the Chevy dealer here having an orange convertible and blue hardtop on the lot at same time. Both were low optioned 307's. I looked at them, had a 70 SS454 Chevelle at the time and 9 mpg was killing me.
A friend bought the blue '71 HC and as I recall he drove it for a looooooooooooooooong time and I can't recall when he got rid of it but I know it was darn near junk the last I can recall seeing him driving it.

The SS option wasn't available with the base 307 V8 as printed in the brochure.

Don't believe there were ever any Heavy Chevy convertibles. It was an option package on the base Chevelle coupe only, non Malibu.
The Burnt Orange name for the color was kind of misleading. It is really a copper color to the eye. Much like the Sierra Gold of the 50's. When I built a model of my HC out of a promo car, I threw away the Burnt Orange I had mixed by a paint company and used a Sierra Gold spray can. Came out perfect.

The Heavy Chevy option, RPO YF3 @ $142.20 retail, was only available on the Chevelle model 13437 which is a base Chevelle V8 Sport Coupe.
info from my 1971 dealer order book and price guide dated 3-1-71
other info:
The F-41 suspension option @ $30.55 was not available unless the LS3 400 engine was also ordered.
Triva:
There was no "Malibu 400" package, series or whatever that some Chevelle fans, websites and magazine articles claim. The LS3 400 big block was simply an engine option as was the 350 engines.

Must be a Malibu ragtop I recall. There were no convertibles in the chevelle series, just the Malibu.
There were 15 different colors available.
Note - There was a classic copper and burnt orange.

My first car was a 72 Heavy Chevy. It was a very dark brown, looked black at night with white HC stripes. I didn't see a dark brown color on the list. It had a saginaw 4 speed.
