So that is what the place looked like during daylight hours. Landed there a few times, but always in and out during the night.

Great, not much security at any place over there. Nephew flew gun ships there until just prior to Tet, lost 7 Hueys to ground fire. While setting up the rocket launchers on one he managed to take out a bunch of VC who were at the end of the air strip with a mortor.

My unit was in the thick of it during TET 1968. We flew a Battalion Landing team off of the USS Valley Forge, an old WW II Carrier converted for helos and troops, to Hue City and supported them throughout the siege there. We were all glad when THAT was over!!
