Howdy,
I bought this one on eBay in October 2018. Truck is from North Carolina. Has a nice patina which I am going to leave as it is. Your typical six with three on the tree.
Showing 55,000 miles which seems to be believable from the stack of papers in the glove box. Looks to have been last registered in 2010. A little rust but not bad actually. Primarily in left rocker. It is solid enough to just leave it alone and it will not sit outside anymore so I expect no further corrosion activity.
My mechanic buddy in Lafayette Indiana had the truck all winter and went through just about everything to bring it back to life.
Rebuilt the carburetor and choke.
new water-pump, belts and hoses.
new fuel tank and sending unit.
new rear shocks.
took the steering column out and rebuilt the three on the tree parts and the bushings on the transmission and it shifts perfectly.
complete tune-up, rebuilt the distributor, rear main seal, all engine gaskets.
100% new brakes at all four wheels and wheel cylinders and master cylinder. (including all the little springs and hardware pieces in the interior of the drums.)
the tires are almost new but date-code at 18+ years old so I will address that soon. (Another indication of a long term off the road)
Fixed all the lights and the horn.
What caught my eye was the fact that it has not been hacked or abused and is pretty straight. I'd been looking for a long time. Plans are to continue to improve it a little at a time and take it to shows occasionally and enjoy it. I have no intention of restoring the exterior as I really like the Patina that it has.
