Hey everyone just joined this site today. Need a little help I bought a 73 nova ss last may it has a 350 with a .30 over machined crank edlebrock intake along with carb 600cfm and a th350.. I'm new to the car game it performed ok but it needs to be faster. Since I've owned it I put hooker super comp headers new exhaust new wheels cragars ss 15x8 60/275rears front 15x7 235 front. At the end of this month putting a moser 12 bolt rear in. Just wondering what I can do to the 350 to squeeze somemore horses out of it.

Welcome to CT. Headers is a good start. A better intake. It all depends on how much money you are willing to spend.

Find out what size cam is in your 350, then you can purchase components to maximize the power of the cam, bigger carb, better intake, recurve of the timing curve, or install a better distributor. You mentioned building a rearend, what size gears are being installed? Also, look into a higher stall convertor to help put the engine in the power band for those gears.

also, when you installed the headers and exhaust did you make adjustments to the carb? Normally installing headers and good exhaust system, will cause the carb. to run leaner. You might be able to fatten it up for more power.

Hey thanks for the info. I think I'll see what's up with the cam. And as for the rear I'm gonna order from moser just stuck on gears undecided on what one to go with 3.55 or 3.73,4.11s

Before you go "cam crazy" - what compression is your 350???

I hope it is "at least" 11:1 with the setup you are suggesting.

Your bang for buck is to pull it, rebuild it, and stroke it to a 383. If you build a 383 with the same basic parts as a 350 you will gain 40 or so more hp and tq. There are several threads in the performance section of this forum. Its really not that hard, just a little more time consuming. I have built a few of them myself and they are a great engine for a street rod. Grumpyvette has several threads that are full of what is needed to get it done. The longer stroke will increase the cubic inches 33 inches along with the torque that comes with a stroker engine. If its 30 over now might have to bore it to 40 which will make it a 385. 425-450 hp is common with that cubic inch engine.
